Blog Post #2
After reading the majority of Night By Elie Wiesel one theme that kept appearing in my mind. That theme is Family. Elie and his father Shlomo are still together they help one another through these rough times. Elie and his father rely on each other to keep them going. Elie wrote “Behind me, an old man fell to the ground. Nearby, an SS man replaced his revolver in it's holster. My Hand tightened it's grip on my father. All I could think of was not to lose him. Not to remain alone.”(P. 30 Wiesel) Elie is scared that something bad will happen to what's left of his family: his father. In the camp Jews are killed everyday for sometimes no reason at all. While reading this all I could think of is how I would feel if this was happening to me and what I would do if I were in this awful situation. I think that if this were to happen to my family my sisters and my mom would be separated from my father and I.
“ I did not fast. First of all, to please my father who had forbidden me to do so. And then there was no longer any reason for me to do so.” (P. 69 Wiesel) In this quote it is Yom Kippur and some of the other jews are fasting as they would usually on Yom Kippur, but Elie’s father has forbidden Elie to do so because if either of them did they might not make it through the day, and even if they did they would be so weak that they would probably be killed because they did not have enough strength to work. Having his father there helps Elie to make the right decisions, Shlomo keeps him in his right mind.
Hi Ella May
ReplyDeleteI thought this blog post was exceptional with your quote both being very well presented and explained. My one and only complaint would have been if you could have elaborated on your personal connections. I know that was the hardest part of the assignment. However the overall blog post was great.
Ella May,
ReplyDeleteYou did a good job organizing your quotes and information. I enjoyed reading your ideas. I agree with Henry in that you could add a personal connection. Otherwise, you did a really good job!
