BLOG POST #3
Artifact Analysis and Reflection
Directions:
The purpose of this blog post assignment is to engage with a primary source artifact from the Holocaust. The focus of this assignment is not on writing, but on deep reflection. Please spend time looking at all of the intricacies of your selected image in order to reflect deeply on what was captured.
Step One:
- Select one of the photographs below OR go to the USHMM gallery to select another that resonates with you.
Step Two:
Use the National Archives Photograph Analysis tool to investigate your selected photograph (fill out all sections of this worksheet).
- Consider “breaking” the photo into quadrants (lay a giant cross over the picture to create 4 sections) to ensure that you are observing all aspects of the picture.
Step Three:
- After you’ve thoroughly investigated the photograph and reflected on what the photographer has captured, write a reflective caption.
- This caption should be no more than a few sentences.
- Focus on a.) capturing the emotion within the picture and b.) expressing your interpretation of what is happening.
Step Four:

- Save the image to your desktop OR copy the URL.
- To insert the image select the picture icon on your Blogger toolbar
↘
